Thank you for visiting the
Wasco Union High School Website – home of the Tigers! This
year I am excited about all the positive changes and growth
occurring at our school. Some of these changes are easy to
recognize, such as the opening of another new classroom
building and our new PE/Athletics facilities west of Palm
scheduled to open later this year. But what I am most proud
of is our campus wide dedication and commitment to the
continuing improvements in student learning.
WUHS is blessed with an
excellent staff whose expectation
is for all our students to learn at a high level and
to leave this school prepared to be responsible and
productive members of society.
As we prepare students for what is next (WIN), our mission
is to challenge and inspire students to become life-long
learners who are academically and technologically prepared
to join society as independent thinkers and problem solvers.
One additional change that will begin after
first quarter grades will be mandatory lunchtime tutoring
for underclassmen that do not achieve at least a 2.0 GPA.
Students will be assigned to tutoring until the next grade
report or their English and Mathematics grades have improve
to the point their teachers feel additional tutoring is no
longer needed. These students will also be restricted to
campus during lunch. Students must understand the primary
focus of WUHS is student learning.
We are also committed to the development of
effective partnerships between parents, students, staff, and
the broader community to ensure success for our students.
We encourage parents and guardians to ask their students
about school and to call whenever they have any questions or
concerns.
In addition to our focus on student learning, we want all of
our students to enjoy high school and make it a memorable
time of positive and challenging experiences. We encourage
each student to become actively involved in the school by
participating in one or more of the many diverse
opportunities for co-curricular involvement. Our on and off
campus programs provide students access to elective
offerings, clubs and organizations, performing arts,
academic competitive teams, and athletic teams.
As always, I invite all our parents and community members to
get involved at Wasco High. If you do I am confident that
you, too, will catch the Tiger spirit.
Mr. Elwood
