John Barge

Department Chair
| Mr. Barge
graduated from West High School and earned a
Bachelor of Arts (BA) Degree from Point Loma
Nazarene University in San Diego, a Masters of
Arts in Education (MA) and Pupil Personnel
Services (PPS) in School Psychology from Fresno
Pacific University. Mr. Barge has been in the
WUHSD since 2006 as the Coordinator of
Psychological Services / School Psychologist. He
is actively involved in youth sports and
especially enjoys coaching his sons in Baseball.
He enjoys beach trips with family (wife Michelle
and 3 boys), going to sporting events, reading,
golf, and spending time with friends.

Jamie Chavarria

Mrs. Chavarria
earned her B.A and a
Masters in
Education (Special Eduation)
from Cal. State
University Bakersfield. She will
finish her 2nd credential June 2010.
Her
background is in Law Enforcement, Mental Health and
Special Education. She has specialized in Sensory
Processing Disorder (SPD), Autism, and Feeding
Disorders. She has given several workshops to
parents and professionals on SPD and spoken at a
national conference on ADHD |

and SPD. Mrs.
Chavarria has written about SPD and was published in
a book in 2006. She was on the Executive Committee
located in Denver Colorado for SPD but has since
taken a leave of absence. She is very involved in
soccer and softball and played this through college
and women's leagues. She enjoys running, coaching
and playing soccer and softball. Mrs. Chavarria is
married to David Chavarria who is with the Texas
Rangers Baseball Team and has two sons. She enjoys
spending as much time as possible with her husband
and two children. They mean the world to her. |

Chris Ruiz

Mr. Ruiz graduated from
Shafter High School and earned an Associate of Arts Degree
from Bakersfield College and a Bachelor of Science Degree
from CSUB in Physical Education. He is CTAP I and II
certified and holds Education Specialist Instruction and
Single Subject Clad Emphasis Credentials from CSUB. In both
2003 and 2004, Mr. Ruiz was recognized by students in the
Who's Who Among America's Teachers. Chris has coached
and taught at Wasco High |

since 1998. He enjoys
golf, music, and attending sporting events and concerts.
Additionally, Chris is a referee for NCAA Division I
Independents Men's Basketball.

Christine Wickham

Ms. Wickham attended
the University of Arizona and CSUB Bakersfield before
earning a Bachelor of Arts from CSUB. She also
earned a Master of Arts in Special Education from CSUB.
Ms. Wickham has a Professional Clear Multiple Subject
Teaching Credential with a supplementary authorization
in English, a Professional Clear Specialist Instruction
Credential in Special Education, a Clear CLAD
certificate, and a Clear Resource Specialist |

Certificate of
Competence. She taught middle school for ten
years in Bakersfield and high school in southern
Arizona for the past two years. Ms. Wickham
enjoys reading, gardening, and traveling to visit
her family in Arizona. She has three sons and
two grandchildren. |
