Kevin Tallon

Department Chair
Mr. Tallon was born and raised in Wasco and is a graduate of Wasco High School.  He graduated from California State University, Bakersfield in 2000 with a degree in History.  He earned his teaching credential in 2001 and began teaching in the Fall of that year.  Mr. Tallon is currently teaching Advanced Placement US History and college prep US History.  Mr. Tallon served as the Head Varsity

Boys Basketball coach for six seasons at Wasco High School and has also served as an assistant on the football and baseball teams.  Mr. Tallon and his wife Gina have three daughters, Kaylee, Brooke, and Abigail.  His hobbies include spending time with family, reading, traveling, and sports.


Craig Williams

Mr. Williams graduated from Buena High (Ventura) in 1995. After high school, he attended the University of California at Davis where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History with a Minor in Education. Mr. Williams coaches Cross-Country and Baseball at Wasco High. He also enjoys spending time with his family, cooking, gardening, sports and going to the movies.

Ryan Absey

Mr. Absey attended Stockdale High School and graduated in 2001. After graduating from Bakersfield College, Mr. Absey attended California State University of Bakersfield, earning a B.A. degree in History, and minoring in Political Science. When not teaching, Mr. Absey enjoys spending time with his family, "Jeeping" with friends, and rooting for his beloved Minnesota Twins! Mr. Absey is married to Kellie, a nurse at Kern Medical Center.

Paul Ante

Mr. Ante attended East Bakersfield High School and graduated in 1988. After graduating from Bakersfield College, Mr. Ante attended Fresno State University where he earned a B.A. in History. Mr. Ante earned his teaching credential from CSU Bakersfield. He taught for nine years at Jacobsen Middle School in Tehachapi before accepting a position at Wasco High School. Mr. Ante is married to Laura, who teaches first grade at Wingland Elementary in Oildale. He has a son named

Jackson Paul and a daughter named Adelina "Addy" Rose.  Mr. Ante enjoys music, golf, sports (Cowboys, SF Giants, UCLA Bruins Basketball), coaching, attending sporting events, concerts and movies.

Joey Mayo

Mr. Mayo graduated from Bakersfield College in 1998 with an Associate of Arts Degree in Liberal Arts and earned a football scholarship to San Diego State University.  He graduated from SDSU (2000) with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Science with an emphasis in Sociology. Mr. Mayo earned his Professional Clear Teaching Credential with an emphasis in Cross-Cultural Language and Academic Development (2003) and Master of Education

degree with an emphasis in Cross-Cultural Teaching (2005).  Mr. Mayo is a “highly qualified” Social Science teacher by way of passing the C.S.E.T.-California State Examination for Teachers in Social Science.  He began his teaching career for the Tigers in 2001 and coached football for the first 3 years of his tenure at Wasco High before joining the Bakersfield College football staff in 2004 where he coached inside linebackers and was an assistant strength and conditioning coach for 3 years.  Mr. Mayo currently teaches United States History.  Mr. Mayo enjoys cooking, sporting events, reading, golf, bowling, movies, exercising, art, fashion, and enjoys time with his dogs.

Edward Moreno

Mr. Moreno earned a Bachelor's Degree in Social Science from CSUB, and holds a Preliminary Credential in Social Science from Pt. Loma Nazarene University.  He met his true love while attending Wasco High, and they married in 1999.  Mr. and Mrs. Moreno have four beautiful children: Claire, Bauer, Farmer, and Archer.  Mr. Moreno spends his free time doing his favorite thing in the world: coaching football.  He coached the Tigers for 11 years.  He is an avid Cincinnati Bengals and Michigan Wolverines fan.

Frank Russell

Mr. Russell received an Associate of Arts Degree from Gavilan Junior College (1966), a Bachelor of Arts Degree from San Jose State University (1968) a Master of Arts Degree in Social Science Education (1973) and has worked in the education field since 1970. He taught high school in San Jose for 11 years before moving to Saudi Arabia where he taught 6th grade English for one year. He said that he set back the advance of English instruction so far, that they made him an assistant principal just

to protect the English language (HA!). In addition to teaching in San Jose and Saudi Arabia, he has worked as an educator in Riverside, Lake Tahoe, Seoul (Korea), Avenal and Firebaugh. He came to Wasco as Principal in 2001 but asked to be reassigned to the classroom in 2003 as he missed teaching. He currently lives in Wasco with his wife Lois who is a 5th grade teacher at Palm Elementary.
